Mission & Purpose
In service to our alma mater and as a devoted ally and advocate for Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, the Dunbar Class of '98 Alumni Association endeavors to nurture a sense of loyalty among the graduates of 1998 from Dunbar (Classmates) and other alumni.

To realize our mission, the Class of 1998 Alumni Association commits to:
* Cultivating active participation from Classmates, alumni, and others in serving Dunbar and furthering the goals of our organization.
* Formulating and overseeing a fund with the goal of offering grants to support teachers, providing annual scholarships for Dunbar students, and presenting yearly awards to Dunbar, earmarked for specific purposes.
* Establishing and sustaining a benevolence fund aimed at providing support to classmates, former teachers, alumni, and current students at Dunbar.

Non Profit Status

The Dunbar High School Class of 1998 Alumni Association is incorporated as a non-profit organization with the state. We have diligently applied for our 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to enhance our ability to serve the Dunbar community and beyond. As of [date], our application is pending, and we are eagerly awaiting a response from the IRS. Until our 501(c)(3) designation is officially granted, please be aware that donations to the association are not currently tax-deductible. We are optimistic that our application will be approved in the near future. Once our 501(c)(3) status is received, any contributions made in 2024 will be retroactively recognized as tax-deductible, in accordance with IRS guideline

Transparency and Financial Integrity:

At the Dunbar High School Class of 1998 Alumni Association, we believe in transparency and maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity. We are committed to providing our supporters with a clear understanding of how their contributions are utilized to benefit our alma mater. If you wish to access the financial records of the association, we welcome formal requests. Our financial information will be made available to you, demonstrating our dedication to openness and accountability

We respect the privacy of our donors. As a matter of policy, we do not release the names of our contributors. Your generosity and support are valued, and we strive to protect your confidentiality. Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work towards securing our 501(c)(3) designation.
